<div style="text-align: justify;">TheNetwork for Consumer Protection held a Focus Group Discussion with
consumers in connection with World Consumer Rights Day 2012’s theme “Our
Money Our rights” at its office in G-9 Islamabad. <br />
<br />
Moderated by Dr Hassan Mehmood, Project Coordinator, 15 people
participated in the discussion from different walk of life including
Bankers, Financial Consultants, Government Officials and Consumers. The
main objective of the FGD was to observe the practices and patterns of
financial services in Pakistan and problems that consumers are facing
while availing these services. Group of participants shared their
experiences of dealing with Account opening, ATM services, Credit Cards,
Loans, Leasing, Mortgages, inter Bank transactions and transfer and
receiving money to and from foreign accounts. Also the performance of
available redressal mechanisms financial sector complaints the Banking
Ombudsman and Consumer Protection Department of State Bank of Pakistan
were discussed. <br />
