Advocacy seminar on iodized salt

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 11px;">TN in collaboration with Social Welfare Department organized an awareness seminar on iodized salt usage with 182 female students at the Women Welfare and Development Centre. Participants were made aware about the benefits of iodized salt usage in daily diet as well as the consequences of not using it. Mild iodine deficiency can result in significant loss in learning ability.<br />
Other effects include increased risk of stillbirth, miscarriage, and goiter for women and learning difficulties for children. Iodine deficiency is the most common cause of preventable brain damage in the world and Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) threatens human and economic development of nations as discussed by the experts. Realizing the importance of iodized salt consumption to prevent iodine deficiency disorders the participants assured to use the iodized salt.</span></div>
