TheNetwork for Consumer Protection has organised a successful and interactive session with twenty farmers of wide age groups(20-75 years) in Kirpa Village. The farmers have shown keen interest in learning about organic farming and also mentioned some serious concerns in this regard. Major concern raised by Muhammad Arif Raja (Age 72), was the resistant weeds problem faced in conventional farming leading to the increased use of pesticides per year. Interestingly, some of the participants were already practicing kitchen gardening and enjoying the better flavor of the vegetables. Overall, the session was quite productive and farmers demanded for followup workshops on Organic Farming Techniques.
